Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our scout hut is now getting to the age where we have to think about longer term preservation and maintenance.
We have recently undergone a survey to establish what needs to be done to the hut to maintain it to a reasonable standard, although the list is very extensive the main concerns are as follows with estimated costs

  • New roof, we currently have floor rot and continual leaking and need to replace the roof as a sense of urgency.
Estimated cost £5000-£6000, this needs to be undertaken by professionals due to the nature of the work. Completed

  • New floor, courtesy of the roof! this involves the current floor being lifted and removed and replaced with marine plyboard. We are hoping to be able to do this ourselves with professional advice and voluntary help!!!! BUT while the floor is raised, see below!!!! Completed 1/12/09

  • The pillars that the hut is standing on will need strengthening and some will need rebuilding, this will require the floor joists supporting while we either rebuild the pillars or replace them with a concrete support. This will require alot of labour and hard work. Waiting for the snow to melt!!!!

These are just the key points that need to be planned into our budget and maintenance schedule over the coming year.
Any professional advice or support would be greatly appreciated and we can be reached initially via the Contact Us page

We will be planning various fundraising activities over the next year to help fund the cost of the above work and all the other jobs that require doing, so if you see us advertising a coffee morning or doing a collection then please dig deep in this difficult time and continue to support us so we may continue to support the children and community of Disley
